One of three men charged in a drive-by shooting in Maplewood last summer was sentenced Friday to three years in prison.Davion Lazarick Gaines, 21, of Minneapolis, had pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with nearly four dozen gunshots that were fired outside two Maplewood apartment buildings along Clarence Street North on the afternoon of June 13, 2022.Ramsey County District Judge Elena Ostby followed a July agreement and sentenced Gaines to a 36-month prison term, which will run concurrent with a Hennepin County gun-related conviction that sent him to prison for three years in March.Also charged in the Maplewood shooting were Elias-Kareem Hany Aly, 22, of St. Paul, and De’Voncea Lashoun Griffo, 24, of Little Canada.Elias-Kareem Hany Aly, Davion Lazarick Gaines and De’Voncea Lashoun Griffo (Courtesy of the Ramsey County sheriff’s office)All three men later picked up new charges in unrelated cases after being released from the Ramsey Co...Book Review: Small-town politics and big family drama drive Minnesota-centric crime thriller ‘Where the Dead Sleep’

A 14-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly stabbing another teen in Chino Hills last week, officials said Monday.The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Aug. 11 at a Wendy’s restaurant in the 15000 block of Pomona Rincon Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.Deputies responded to an altercation involving students from Chino Hills High School.During the altercation, the 14-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed another juvenile with a knife and the victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said.Responding deputies investigated the incident and found the suspect near the scene.He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was booked into the San Bernardino Juvenile Detention Center.No further details about the incident have been released.'The Office' celebrated with new mural in fictional company's hometown

Fans of the iconic sitcom "The Office" have another reason to plan a pilgrimage to the Pennsylvania railroad town that played host to the fictional Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company.A new mural in Scranton is underway and the new art installation not only highlights the fictional characters of the plucky paper company, but also represents the growing community in the "Electric City."The mural is taking shape in downtown Scranton and once complete it will depict the characters from the beloved NBC sitcom.The artist behind the mural is not Pam Halpert, although we know she is capable. Two-Vehicle Collision on Fountain Avenue Left Several InjuredHOLLYWOOD, CA (August 14, 2023) – Tuesday night, several people sustained injuries following a wrong-way accident on 101 Freeway.California Highway Patrol said the incident happened just before 9:30 p.m., near Fountain Avenue.Authorities received calls regarding the incident, which was allegedly caused by a car heading southbound in the northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway near the Fountain Avenue bridge.Paramedics arrived and transported the victims to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
