He will be taking over from the interim CAO, Jeffrey Coffman.• A member of the Coaldale RCMP hosted a Community Safety Meeting presentation and answered questions from the public. A reminder that if you experience crime, to call the RCMP information line before turning to social media.• Feedback was received from a recent Public Open House around The Wetlands. Those who stopped in provided great information and feedback. The proposal was presented to council at the Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting and passed during the March 27 meeting of council.Council also passed a bylaw for all three readings of the 2023 Service Fees and rates Bylaw #933-23 which includes Arena and pool user fees.The bylaw was not required to be advertised prior to consideration of second or third readings. By Nikki JamiesonSunny South NewsPolicing and the new school were topics of interest from Coalhurst council to their local MLA.During their regular April 4 meeting, Cardston-Siksika MLA Joseph Schow appeared before Coalhurst town council over Zoom to provide an update.Noting that the legislative session just ended and they didn’t have the “typical large volume of bills” however, three bills they did have – a budget limitation bill, a red tape omibus bill and the Alberta Firearms Act – were ones Schow said were important to pass before the UCP call an election in May.Once the election is called, the legislature will dissolve and Schow would no longer be the MLA for the electoral district.Wanting to discuss the Coalhurst School, Schow requested they go into closed session, a request which council granted. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the Office of the New York State Attorney General, JUUL Labs Inc. (JUUL) will pay $462M to six states, including the District of Columbia, for its alleged role in the underage e-cigarette and vaping epidemic. As part of the agreement, JUUL will be required to secure its products behind retail store counters and verify the age of customers that directly sell or promote their products online. JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Two Schenectady men were arrested after being pulled over in Johnstown for possession of drugs, money, and two loaded firearms, according to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. On Tuesday, Fulton County Sheriff's Office deputies pulled over a car in Johnstown. Deputies say they found two loaded firearms under the driver's and passenger's seats, with one of the guns having a defaced serial number. Deputies also say both had illegal narcotics and a large sum of money. Deputies say Cosme, identified as the passenger, attempted to flee on foot once he stepped out of the car. He was apprehended after a brief foot chase. MT. VERNON, Ill. - Many schools around Illinois, including some in the Metro East, have been disrupted by threats Wednesday. A spokesperson from Illinois State Police tells FOX 2 that at least 12 Illinois communities across the state have received threats directed toward their schools. To this point, all threats have been unfounded. "Responders have not located any actual threats as a result of these calls. The Illinois State Police Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center currently has no information concerning credible threats related to school safety. Law enforcement, public safety, and private sector security officials are encouraged to remain vigilant and report all suspicious behavior to local police agencies," said Illinois State Police in a statement to FOX 2. ST. LOUIS - Animal activist organization PETA is planning a protest Wednesday outside the Anheuser-Busch brewery in St. Louis over treatment of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales.The protest is planned for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1200 Lynch Street. It follows a protest from Opening Day in which PETA flew a banner to address the same concerns.
