Williamson County looks at animal shelter expansion with Georgetown

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Williamson County's no-kill animal shelter could expand, again, to add another city to the areas the county shelter helps. Williamson County commissioners approved a feasibility study to see how the shelter can grow on its five acres of land and how many kennels could be added to the shelter. But the decision was divided in a 3-2 vote. PREVIOUS: Georgetown City Council hears proposal for county shelter taking over city shelter An expansion would add Georgetown to the group of cities that the county shelter serves. The cities currently include Round Rock, Cedar Park, Hutto and Leander. For Georgetown to join the shelter, the member cities would need to approve the addition.The city of Georgetown began exploring a county partnership in November. A potential merger would give the regional facility all operations of Georgetown’s shelter. The former Handsome Hog space across from Mears Park in Lowertown St. Paul has reopened as a biscuit-centric restaurant called Big Biscuit Bar.The eatery, helmed by Executive Chef Aaron Cave and Chef de Cuisine Matt Running, will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.The menu includes breakfast sandwiches — on biscuits of course — smothered biscuits and a handful of other southern breakfast items, including shrimp and grits and country-fried steak.There’s a full bar serving breakfast cocktails beyond the bloody Mary, such as a breakfast old-fashioned, Irish coffee and a mezcal-based drink called Coffee and Smoke. After working to retain some depth on the offensive line last week, the Vikings have turned their attention to the defensive line.On Tuesday, the Vikings agreed to terms with defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard, bringing back a player who appeared in 12 games last season.Though he suffered a biceps injury that forced him to miss a month down the stretch, Bullard made himself useful last season before getting hurt. HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WXIN) — An Indiana deputy and his K-9 partner were credited with finding a 12-year-old who briefly went missing overnight Sunday. The child left their Noblesville home around 3 a.m. while it was around 16 degrees outside, according to the sheriff's office. Deputy Neal Hoard and K-9 Maudie began tracking the child's scent around 4:30 a.m. Maudie followed the scent for a little more than three-quarters of a mile and ultimately indicated the missing subject was on the other side of a fence in an enclosed yard. Another deputy, Tyler Abbitt, scaled the fence and found the child in an exterior restroom. MALTA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police arrested Sean Douglas, 44, of Winthrop, following a traffic stop on State Route 9 on Sunday night. According to police, Douglas was initially stopped for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Douglas provided false information and did not have a valid driver's license. Police also determined that Douglas was driving while intoxicated. When they attempted to take Douglas into custody, Douglas resisted arrest and tried to escape on foot. He was quickly apprehended and transported to State Police Saratoga, where he refused to provide a blood sample to determine his alcohol content.Douglas was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator, Criminal Impersonation, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
